In the second part of the month of August in Badia al Pino the Beefsteak Festival takes place every year.
This year the interested days will be from 23 August to 02 September (27 August rest). It is a success that is renewed annually on the occasion of the day dedicated to the patron saint of the village, San Bartolomeo, which is celebrated in August. Badia al Pino, located in Val di Chiana, boasts among other things the famous Chianina meat sought in the world for its tasty meat. Until a few decades ago, the countryside around Badia al Pino was populated by many Chianini cattle recognizable by their size (it is the largest cattle in the world for breeding) and their unmistakable completely white mantle. Today with the almost total disappearance of the peasant civilization these beasts live in training controlled by specialized personnel. At the steak festival you can request both good quality Tuscan meat and specifically the Chianina steak accompanied by tasty side dishes such as tomatoes or shelled beans. The menu also includes fruit, water and bread, all washed down with good wine from the hills of Arezzo. The program includes theater performances, dance music and rock concerts. It is also possible to taste good pizza and sangria.
